For Erick Soto Ramos, It’s All About Helping People

Erick Soto Ramos is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who works in our Rehab Program. He has been with us for almost a year and he is continuing his education to become a Registered Nurse (RN)—he takes his Boards in May. Becoming an RN is a career goal that he says will enable him to create a better life for his family and do more to help his patients, but he doesn’t want to stop there. After receiving his RN with an Associate’s degree, Erick plans to pursue Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing so he can continue to increase his clinical knowledge and ability to help more people get the care they need.

Erick says that he prefers working in rehab because he finds it rewarding to help patients get better and return to their normal daily lives and routines. “It’s hard work, but it’s very rewarding. To see someone progress in their therapy … to learn to walk again or regain their independence … to be a part of that is very special. When a patient thanks me for helping them get back home, it makes me feel really proud and good about what I do.”

Working at the Widows Home is something that Erick enjoys very much, and he likes the team atmosphere and the way the staff gets along together. He likes it here so much that he says he would like to continue working here after he gets his RN license. When he’s not at work or at school, Erick stays busy by spending time with his three young sons and his extended family.
